A talk on DHEERA - Stop violence against women

A talk on DHEERA - Stop violence against women was conducted in the school on 7th January, 2023. 89 students from Classes 9 and 10 attended the talk. DHEERA is a flagship program of The Federation of Obstetrics & Gynaecological Societies of India in partnership with UNICEF. 

Ms Ratna Kini Pinto, Ms Carol Pais and Ms Preeti Prabhu were the resource persons. Students were given information about the different types of violence against women - physical, sexual & emotional and also about eve teasing, cyber bullying, acid assault. They urged the students to stand up and speak out whenever their rights were violated.

π - thon 3.O - Mathematics Workshop

A three-day Mathematics Workshop 'π - thon 3.O' was organized by Dr. M Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Thokur from 11th to 13th April 2022.

Shri. N Vinaya Hegde, Chancellor, Nitte University, inaugurated the workshop. In his address, he mentioned that children these days are born smart. Activity-based learning leads to better understanding. He stressed value-based and skill-based education in the formative years of study.

Street play

A street play to sensitize the public towards 'Cleanliness and Gender Equality' was performed on March 23rd 2022 at Indiranagar, Haleangadi, Karnad and Kinnigoli by the students of Classes 8 and 9 of Dr. MRSM School.

The play was directed by Mr. Prashanth Bhat, a local artist. President of Haleyangadi Panchayath Mrs Poornima, CRP - Mangalore North and the public witnessed the performance. It was well appreciated by the audience.

Dr. MRSM English Medium High School celebrated 'Azadi Ka Amrith Mahothsav" on Sunday, 15th August 2021. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Shreelatha Rao hoisted the National flag. Republic Day celebration

Republic Day - the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950, was celebrated with pride and patriotism on 26th January 2021 at Dr. MRSM English Medium High School.

The festivities commenced with unfurling the national flag by the PTA President, Mr. Arun Shetty followed by oath-taking by everyone gathered, to uphold the honor, integrity and dignity of our nation. Toppers of AISSE-20 were rewarded on the occasion.

A skit depicting the contribution of various architects of the Indian Constitution, staged by the students of Class 9 & 10 and a dance performance exclusive to Uttarakhand by the teaching faculty, made the day memorable one.

Mathematics Workshop

A three-day Mathematics Workshop was organized in the school for the teachers of Nitte and the neighbouring schools from 4th to 6th of January 2021. Integration of Arts in Mathematics, multidisciplinary approach and use of python programming language in Mathematics were the highlights of the training. Swachhata Diwas

As a part of Swachh Manas programme, initiated by Ramakrishna Mission, Mangaluru, Swachhata Diwas was held in the school on 31st August 2019.

Resource person, Mr Arjun Shivakumar spoke on the importance of personal hygiene. Students of classes 8, 9 and 10 cleaned the campus. The students were also trained in the correct procedure of washing hands.

The 25th Annual Day of Dr. MRSM English Medium School was celebrated on 4th January, 2020. Mr. Sukesha Serigara, Principal, Podar International School, Shivamogga was the chief guest. Dr. Fatima D'Silva, Principal, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Deralakatte presided over the function. Vanamahotsava

Vanamahotsava was celebrated in Dr. MRSM school jointly with Rotary Club Mulki and 'Rotary Samudaya Dala' Thokur by planting 15 saplings under the theme 'Namma Nela, Nanna Gida'. 

Rotarian Mr. Ashok Kumar Shetty, President of the first PTA of the school, presided over the function. In his address he advocated the responsibility of the citizens in reducing pollution and promoting sustainable consumption. 

Mrs. Shreelatha Rao expressed her happiness over the effort of planting 5 saplings in the campus for every tree cut during the construction the new Educational Block.

Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day was observed in the presence of the President & members of the PTA and staff of Dr. MRSM School. 

Principal Ms. Shreelatha Rao hoisted the flag. In her address she acknowledged the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters, the selfless service of the military force, police and the Corona warriors. 

Teachers were motivated to be ready to shoulder the responsibility of taking the nation forward through students and realise the dream of the Prime Minister in making the country 'ATMA NIRBHAR BHARATH'.

Teacher's Day

Dr. MRSM English Medium High School celebrated Teachers' Day in a unique manner this year. Addressing parents and colleagues, Ms. Shreelatha Rao, Principal said 'As an educationist, Dr. Radhakrishnan was an envoy of edification'. The process of education begins at home with the mother being the first teacher, she said.

In keeping with the thought that physical activity is very important in de-stressing and relieving anxiety, a run/walk was organised in the school grounds for both faculty and members of the Parent-Teacher Association. Later teachers also volunteered in de-weeding the school garden.
