The Dr. Mundkur Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School was established by the Nitte Education Trust on June 15, 1995 at the Bunts Hostel building in Mulki. The School was later shifted to Thokur on January 1, 1999. Named after late Dr. M Ramanna Shetty, a popular physician, the School was founded by the Trust with the idea of offering quality education to boys and girls residing in the rural areas of Mulki.
MRSM School is blessed with a wonderful natural campus set amongst lush shade of countless trees giving the school a close-to nature feel. It is an ecological treasure with diverse flora and fauna such as hare, porcupines, variety of rare butterflies, birds such as drongo, peacock, oriole, Treepie and many other. Toucans give guest appearance. Flora includes a variety of plants and trees which inspires the students to learn through nature and encourages awareness of their environment. Students are taught to be aware of the importance of water and how to use it wisely. They learn to make compost and grow their own fruit and vegetables in the school’s organic gardens. Students are given the responsibility of taking care of the saplings allocated to them.
